Thailand

A few days on a beach was exactly what we needed after our first days on the road.  Thailand has proven to be like Cambodia with more infrastructure.  Their roads are generally nicer, they have power and water most places, the resorts we passed seemed nicer as well… Of course the prices are equally higher. Not expensive, just more costly than Cambodia.

We booked a “bungalow” instead of a hostel for Koh Chang, mainly because it was even cheaper.  The description said 50m to the beach and 2 km to “white sands beach” which seemed reasonable.  What we found was completely different, not bad just different.  Our walk to a beach was about 500meters through a local village.  Luckily it was the nicest beach we found.

The first day we walked to Chai Chet beach.  We found a nice beach bar at flora d’ Italy.  If we go back to Koh Chang I’d investigate rooms there as it was perfect atmosphere.

On the beach we found A bunch of treasures to load down our backpacks even more.  I wound up with a bunch of buoys!!!!!!!! And we’re going to try and make it home with a few of the sand dollars we found.

The next day we took a songathew to “white sands beach” and it was basically the same except larger. Oh and there was tar hidden in the sand!! What a mess, that was no fun to clean off.  We took another ride to lonely beach only to find a single place that seemed ok.  We had a beer and moved back over to Chai Chet.

That night we had dinner and a show and didn’t even know it, that was a welcome Surprise! These boys were throwing fire around like it was nobodies business!

Our shady, elevated platform/dinner table sunset view

They had a great rope swing we all took advantage of

We logged 24.5miles relaxing for 3 days

The girls seem a little happier in these pictures. In the earlier ones I was glad you were the one who knew how to get you all home. If not for that you might not have made it home. 😆😆. I sure am enjoying your adventures.

I think all of the zillions of discussions that we had (while heads-down working) on the mornings after Amazing Race and Survival are paying off for you now. I am so glad that I could help with this adventure! It was great to see the gorgeous beach pictures … and the smiles! Have fun and be safe.

Yes, yes they are! I used to laugh about some of the crazy when they’d hit the airport now, I understand it’s not the racers, it’s the crazy airports!
